Compound, Spiral and Comminuted Fracture of the bone. This is when the bone is protruding out of the skin. In some cases, if there is blood, grab a towel or shirt to wrap the area then go to the emergency room immediately. When you arrive, expect that they will take x-rays of the area. Depending on the severity of the fracture you will need surgery and they will have to put in pins, screws, or plates to hold the bone in place, so it can begin to heal. We know this is a scary situation, but remember bones mend, and you will be back on your feet in no time. Acute Spine & Sports Therapy can help you with your recovery, breaking up the scar tissue & bringing function back to the area.

Grade 1
Muscle, Tendon & Ligament Strain or Sprain
is a common injury, but if you do not take care of this in the beginning stages this can lead to a Grade 2 Muscle, Tendent or Ligament Tears. So, it is imperative that you seek treatment for these conditions. You've overstretched a muscle or tendon and have the beginning of a small tear. Grade 1 Strain or Sprain heal within 3 to 4 weeks without treatment. The area of injury is weak and can easily be damaged further.
Grade 2
Muscle, Tendent or Ligament Tears
there is extensive damage with more muscle tendent, and ligament fibers involved. However, the muscle tendent and ligament fibers are not completely ruptured. These injuries will cause significant loss of strength and mobility. It can be quite painful to reconstruct Grade 2 Tears. At Acute Spine & Sports Therapy we have the knowledge, ability, and technology to be able to regenerate the muscle tendent and ligament fibers. Grade 2 Tears may take 2 or 3 months to heal and in some cases much longer without treatment.
Grade 3
Muscle, Tendent or Ligament Ruptures
This is when the Muscle is completely severed in half. Tendon or Ligament rips off the bone and detaches. You will know if this happens. You will hear a loud pop or snap in your body area. It will be very painful. Immediate swelling and sometimes bruising will occur. If it is noticeable, like your patella tendent detaching, go to the emergency room immediately. If this happens to you, they will have to take a MRI of the area then refer you to an Orthopedic Surgeon to get you fixed up. We know this is not what you want to hear, this can be depressing, life changing, and potentially career ending. But Acute Spine & Sports Therapy is here for you. We will do everything in our power when it comes to your rehabilitation. We will use all of our skills and technology to get you back to doing what you love.
Joint
Dislocations
can be very painful and can temporarily deform and immobilize the joint. The most common locations for a dislocation are shoulders and fingers, but can also occur in elbows, knees, and hips. In some cases you have to go to the hospital to get them put back in. But at Acute Spine & Sports Therapy we have chiropractors, and they work with joints all the time. So who better to set your dislocation. And more than likely you will have soft tissue damage, so you will need to see a massage therapist, as well to ensure that muscle, tendons or ligaments are not out of place and everything is working and functioning properly. Worst case scenario, if you hear a crunch when the dislocation occurred, you probably damaged Fibrocartilage & Articular Cartilage. This happens the moment you dislocated the area to find out the extent of this damage. You will need to get an MRI.
Neck Midback
& Lower Back
are common injuries in sports due to the nature of athletes being competitive. Especially in combat sports like Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling and MMA, where the athlete is in a constant state of movement causing the body to deal with dynamic forces from their opponent. It can make the spinal column go out of alignment, causing discomfort and pain here. At Acute Spine & Sports Therapy, we have multiple professionals and technology that can help with this problem to keep an athlete at Peak Performance.
